The bit is 18mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's lip area. It is therefore a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

A double jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two joints, is more shaped towards the mouth, and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth. This bit applies pressure to the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. Caution with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double jointed bit applies more pressure to the tongue compared to single jointed bits.
