Product description

Sprenger Turnado 3-Ring Single Jointed 16 mm - Stainless Steel

The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a medium-thick mouthpiece.

For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.

When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.

The Sprenger development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and function of bits. Today we would like to introduce you to the Sprenger Turnado 3-Ring single jointed 16 mm - stainless steel bit from the Sprenger range in more detail:

The Sprenger Turnado 3-Ring single jointed 16 mm - stainless steel bit is made of stainless steel and features 3-ring side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is single jointed.

Bit Thickness

Side Piece

3-Ring

The three-ring bit combines an effective lateral restriction, leverage, and lifting action in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different rein attachment options. When attached to the lower ring, the rein applies the effect of a short lever to the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.

Mouthpiece

single jointed

The single jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double jointed mouthpiece. A single jointed mouthpiece primarily applies pressure to the bars and sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. A single jointed mouthpiece is an absolute standard mouthpiece and very widely used.

Bit Material

Stainless Steel

The most common material for bits is stainless steel. Stainless steel comes in different compositions and consists of steel and various metals. Steel, in turn, is iron that has been alloyed with carbon.

To obtain stainless steel, the steel is mixed with various metals to form different alloys. The most commonly used alloy for stainless steel bits consists of steel, chromium, and nickel.
