Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the utmost care and made from the best materials. Today we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt French Link Snaffle Bit from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron 2.5-Ring Eggbutt French Link Snaffle Bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 2.5-ring sidepieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a French link.
Bit thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. It is therefore a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more like 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
Manufacturer information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are constantly being developed further by Trust's technical teams and strictly controlled for quality.
Mouthpiece
French Link Bits
A French link is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A French link mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single joint or double joint mouthpiece.
Sidepiece
2.5-Ring
A 2.5-ring bit allows flexible attachment of the reins, achieving different leverage effects. The deeper the reins are buckled in, the greater the effect on the bit and neck of the horse. With the 2.5-ring bit, the lower ring is recessed into the main ring.
