The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Locked 16mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron 3-Ring Snaffle Single Jointed Locked 16mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with 3-Ring side pieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it blocks when the reins are taken up. The bit has a mouthpiece size of 14.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is usually suitable for very large warmbloods.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust develops on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Locked
The locked mouthpiece resembles a single jointed mouthpiece but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit changes back to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a danger bit.
Side Piece
3-Ring
The three-ring bit combines effective lateral limitation, leverage, and a gag effect in one bit. The degree of action is chosen by the different buckling options of the reins. When buckled in the lower ring, the taking rein exerts the effect of a short lever on the bit. The 3-ring bit is often used to test the horse's reaction to leverage.
