Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the most suitable materials. Today, we would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Double Broken Mouthpiece with Copper Rings 16mm 13.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Curbgag Double Broken Mouthpiece with Copper Rings 16mm 13.5 bit is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with so-called Curbgag rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is double broken. The bit has a width of 13.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for a normal warmblood.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 20 millimeters at its thickest point, making it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire Horses usually require a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed and strictly quality-controlled by Trust's technical teams.
Mouthpiece
Double Broken
A double broken mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double broken bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single broken bits.
Cheek Piece
Curbgag
The combination bit, also called a Curbgag, ensures optimal pressure distribution on the lower jaw and mouth and is very well accepted by the horse. The second rein acts like a curb strap, which can be taken up and released as needed. This bit is very well suited for particularly strong and forward-going horses.
