The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Medium Bar 16mm 11.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Bit Sweet Iron D-Ring Medium Bar 16mm 11.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with D-shaped rings as cheekpieces. The mouthpiece of this bit is a bar. The bit has a width of 11.5 centimeters. This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for athletic thoroughbreds.
Bit thickness
The bit is 20mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, draft horses and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed so that surface rust forms when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
Manufacturer Information
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by innovation and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality controlled.
Mouthpiece
Bar Bits
A bar is usually straight or slightly curved to adapt to the anatomical conditions in the horse's mouth. A bar mouthpiece has a sharper effect than a single-jointed or double-jointed mouthpiece.
Cheekpiece
D-Ring
Due to the characteristics of this bit, it is wonderful for young horses that are still a bit inexperienced. The shape and weight of the cheekpieces ensure a quiet and comfortable position in the mouth. Due to the shape of the D-shaped rings, optimal lateral stability is provided. Good and quiet rein guidance is facilitated by the large ring. The larger rings provide a little more leverage on the poll.
