Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Bradoon Single Jointed Locking 12mm 14.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 12mm at its widest point. It is therefore a rather thin mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm and particularly large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shires Horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for double bridles usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Trust Equestrian bits are selected with the greatest care and made from the most suitable materials. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Bradoon Single Jointed Locking 12mm 14.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Olive Head Bradoon Single Jointed Locking 12mm 14.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for double bridles. The mouthpiece of this bit is locked, meaning it locks when rein pressure is applied. The bit has a size of 14.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
This mouthpiece size is generally well suited for very large warmbloods.

Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a curb bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings), these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the curb bit, as the curb bit is a straight bar and the bradoon is jointed. Locked
The locked mouthpiece is similar to a single jointed mouthpiece, but cannot bend as much as a single jointed bit. When pressure is applied to the reins, the bit locks and thus becomes a straight bar, making it a sharper bit. When less pressure is applied to the reins, the bit reverts to a single jointed bit. This makes it an ideal bit for horses that push against the hand. The locked mouthpiece is also called a Danger Bit.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed to develop surface rust when in contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
