The Trust Sweet Iron Snaffle Bradoon Waterford Mouthpiece bit is made of Sweet Iron and features smaller cheekpieces as a snaffle bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is a Waterford or multi-jointed.
Bit Thickness
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16 millimeters at its thickest point. This makes it a rather medium-thick mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is usually between 10mm and 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Snaffle bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.

A multi-jointed or Waterford mouthpiece consists of a series of rounded links. It is a flexible bit that conforms to the horse's mouth and creates even pressure. It can move in all directions, making it difficult for the horse to lean on the bit, allowing the rider to maintain proper control. In soft hands, this mouthpiece is soft and kind, but with a strong hand, the bit can be sharp.

Snaffle Bradoon
The snaffle bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g., eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The snaffle bradoon is usually chosen half to a full centimeter larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a curb and the snaffle bradoon is jointed.
