Product description
Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed 16mm 12.5
The mouthpiece has a thickness of 16mm at its thickest point. So it is a medium-strong mouthpiece.
Comparative values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, cold-blooded horses, and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
Bradoons for Weymouth bits usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can use your fingers to test how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The Trust Equestrian development team continuously works on innovative products to further optimize the design and effectiveness of bits. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed 16mm 12.5 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The bit Trust Bit Sweet Iron Bradoon Olive Head Double Jointed 16mm 12.5 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side pieces as a bradoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The mouthpiece has a size of 12.5 centimeters.
Bit Thickness
The 12.5cm mouthpiece size is usually ideal for thoroughbreds.
Sidepiece
Mouthpiece
double jointed
A double-jointed mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is shaped more towards the mouth, and lies a little looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars, and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. The double-jointed bit exerts more pressure on the tongue compared to single-jointed bits. Bradoon
The bradoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double-jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. olive head rings); these are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bradoon is usually chosen half to one cm larger than the Weymouth bit, as the Weymouth bit is a bar and the bradoon is jointed.
Bit Material
Sweet Iron
Trust's Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits were developed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore accept Sweet Iron bits well.
