Product description
Trust Sweet Iron Weymouth Bridoon Snaffle Bit Double Jointed 12mm 13.0
The bit is 12mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the area of the horse's lips. This makes it a rather thin mouthpiece.
For comparison, the standard thickness for a normal warmblood is between 16mm and 18mm. For ponies, this value is more likely to be 10mm to 14mm. Very large warmbloods, cold bloods and Shire Horses usually need a bit thicker than 18mm. A thickness of 12mm is usually suitable for a pony.
Weymouth bridoons usually have a thickness of 12mm to 14mm.
When choosing the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical features of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and the palate.
The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft but effective impulses for better communication between rider and horse. We would like to introduce you to the Trust Sweet Iron Weymouth Bridoon Snaffle Bit Double Jointed 12mm 13.0 from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail today:
The Trust Sweet Iron Weymouth Bridoon Snaffle Bit Double Jointed 12mm 13.0 is made of Sweet Iron and equipped with smaller side parts as a bridoon for Weymouth bits. The mouthpiece of this bit is double jointed. The bit has a size of 13 centimeters.
Bit thickness
This mouthpiece size is usually well suited for a normal warmblood.
Cheekpiece
Mouthpiece
double jointed
A double jointed mouthpiece is a very common mouthpiece. This mouthpiece has two hinges, is more shaped towards the mouth and lies somewhat looser in the horse's mouth. This bit exerts pressure on the tongue, the bars and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws! The hinge points can press on the bars, which can lead to sores. Compared to a single jointed bit, this bit exerts more pressure on the tongue. Bridoon
The bridoon is used in combination with a Weymouth bit. It is available in single and double jointed mouthpiece variations. The difference to other snaffles lies in the rings (e.g. eggbutt rings), which are significantly smaller than the rings of normal bits. The bridoon is usually chosen half to a full cm larger than the Weymouth, as the Weymouth is a straight bar and the bridoon is jointed.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits have been developed in such a way that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
