The bit range from Trust Equestrian provides soft yet effective aids for better communication between rider and horse. Today, we would like to present the Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle, single-jointed, from the Trust Equestrian range in more detail:
The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle, single-jointed is made of Sweet Iron and features loose ring snaffle cheek pieces, i.e., rings. The mouthpiece of this bit is single-jointed.
Bit thickness
The bit is 16mm thick, measured at the thickest point in the horse's commissure. This makes it a moderately thick mouthpiece.
Comparison values: normal warmbloods 16 - 18mm, ponies rather 10 - 14mm, thoroughbreds 12 - 16mm, and particularly large warmbloods, draft horses, and Shire horses rather 18mm and larger.
When selecting the bit thickness and size, pay attention to the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth. You can test with your fingers how much space there is between the tongue and palate.
Bit material
Sweet Iron
Sweet Iron bits are made of steel. The bits are designed so that surface rust forms on contact with air and moisture. This tastes sweet and stimulates saliva production. Horses therefore readily accept Sweet Iron bits.
About the manufacturer
Trust Equestrian
The Dutch bit manufacturer Trust Equestrian is characterized by its innovative spirit and craftsmanship. With the Inno Sense and Sweet Iron series, they are breaking new ground. The products are continuously developed by Trust's technical teams and strictly quality-controlled.
Mouthpiece
Single-jointed
The single-jointed mouthpiece has a hinge in the middle, which puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed mouthpiece. A single-jointed mouthpiece primarily exerts pressure on the bars and the sides of the tongue and can also affect the palate. The single-jointed mouthpiece is certainly the most common of all mouthpieces, alongside the double-jointed one.
Cheek Piece
Loose Ring Snaffle
The loose ring snaffle has two free-running rings at each end. A movable ring means greater mobility of the bit in the mouth. The Trust Sweet Iron Loose Ring Snaffle, single-jointed, is therefore ideal for beginners and horses that are somewhat inactive in the mouth.
